I’m Nate Speare (he/they/firebird). Think of me as an ancestral-sensual-cosmic psychopomp, ready to witness, hold, sing & twirl you through the roads & stories of your soul. When you’re in a working space with me, we put you in touch with your sense of pleasure, playfulness, power, integrity and beauty. You get to ask for the taboo, tricksterish stories & requests that would make many traditional therapists clutch their pearls. You get to break trances & old spells of false limitation toward greater ease & freedom.

Background, Bio, Badges

I have a unique background as an astrologer, vocal artist, storyteller, mythologist, and educator based in Brooklyn. I come from a line of astrologers, performance artists and sound/music composers who have used natural environmental sounds and the connection between sound, the natural environment, and the characters within the earth and sky. I began my public astrological journey in the occult bookstores of New York City and as master astrologer Montgomery Taylor’s teaching assistant at the CG Jung Institute of New York (Archive for Research in Archetypal Symbolism).

My background in avant garde performance, experimental voice work, bodywork & mythopoetics shape my experiential approach to astrology. For years I have led therapeutic storytelling circles, in settings ranging from public schools to Rikers Island to the United Nations. Two key threads in my astrological practice include Astro-Erotics- a tool for using the chart to deepen into relationships & sexuality- and Ancestral Patterns in Astrology, a journey into the wounds & gifts of ancestry.

I strive to aid everyone who works with me in the journey toward pleasure, beauty, integrity, myth & magic. This happens through Mythopoetic Astrology, a consulting practice that integrates experiential therapy, astro-drama, body work, sound healing & counseling. I am a certified Urban Tantra practitioner, a student of the Wheel of Consent and I hold a MFA in Contemporary Performance.

I am a collaborator of PanTheatre, the France-based cultural organization that researches the relationship between contemporary performance, mythology, and the archetypal psychology of James Hillman, the company’s Honorary President. I live and work in Brooklyn, NY, where he is also the co-artistic director of Nekyia Theatre.
